The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: A strong earthquake occurred 35 km (20 miles) SSE of GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands at 4:20 PM MST, Dec 14, 2004 (6:20 PM EST in Cayman Islands). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available.
Felt (VI) at Bodden Town and West Bay; (V) at George Town; (III-V) in many parts of Cuba. Felt throughout Grand Cayman. Also felt at Cancun, Mexico and Kingston, Jamaica.
