The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: A strong earthquake occurred 330 km (205 miles) ENE of Yap, Micronesia at 1:17 PM MST, Jan 16, 2005 (Jan 17 at 6:17 AM local time in Micronesia). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. No damage is expected.
