The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: A strong earthquake occurred 135 km (85 miles) N of Luganville, Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu at 7:48 AM MST, Feb 8, 2005 (Feb 09 at 1:48 AM local time in Vanuatu). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. No damage is expected.
