The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: A moderate earthquake occurred IN SOUTHERN QUEBEC, about 15 km (10 miles) west-southwest of Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec, or about 90 km (55 miles) north-northwest of Dickey, Maine at 11:17 PM MST, Mar 5, 2005 (Mar 06 at 1:17 AM EST in Quebec). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. No reports of damage have been received at this time. The location and magnitude for this earthquake were furnished by the Geological Survey of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario (613-995-5548).
Felt (V) at Riviere-du-Loup. Felt (IV-V) in the St. Lawrence, Saguenay and Ottawa Valleys from Baie- Comeau and Matane to Montreal and Ottawa. Also felt in the Eastern Townships and in New Brunswick. Felt (IV) at Ashland, Fort Kent, Frenchville, Saint Francis and Van Buren, Maine and (II-III) in many parts of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and northeastern New York.
