The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: A strong earthquake occurred 160 km (100 miles) WNW of Ile Hunter, Loyalty Isl., New Caledonia at 11:08 AM MDT, Apr 11, 2005 (Apr 12 at 4:08 AM local time in New Caledonia). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. This earthquake is located in a remote area and no damage or casualties are expected.
Felt on New Caledonia and the Loyalty Islands.
