The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: A minor earthquake occurred about 20 miles west northwest of Carlsbad or about 25 miles south southwest of Artesia at 1:27 PM MST, Dec 19, 2005 (1:27 PM MST in New Mexico). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. The earthquake was felt at Artesia. There have been no reports of damage.

Felt (III) at Artesia, Carlsbad and Roswell.
