The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: An earthquake occurred 60 km (40 miles) SE of Taron, New Ireland, PNG 855 km (530 miles) NE of PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea at 6:36 AM MDT, Sep 26, 2007 (10:36 PM local time in Papua New Guinea). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available.
