The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: An earthquake occurred 120 km (75 miles) S of Luganville, Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu, 170 km (105 miles) NW of PORT-VILA, Efate, Vanuatu, 390 km (240 miles) NNW of Isangel, Tanna, Vanuatu, 1890 km (1180 miles) NE of BRISBANE, Queensland, Australia at 4:23 AM MST, Mar 12, 2008 (10:23 PM local time in Vanuatu). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. This earthquake is located in a remote area and no damage or casualties are expected.
