The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: An earthquake occurred about 230 km (140 miles) N of Luganville, Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu at 12:52 PM MDT, Sep 8, 2008 (Sep 09 at 5:52 AM local time in Vanuatu). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. This earthquake is located in a remote area and no damage or casualties are expected.
