The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: An earthquake occurred about 70 km (45 miles) south of Raoul Island, Kermadec Islands or 1035 km (640 miles) northeast of Auckland, New Zealand at 9:19 AM MDT, Sep 29, 2008 (Sep 30 at 3:19 AM local time in New Zealand). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. No reports of damage or casualties have been received at this time.
