The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: An earthquake occurred about 40 km (25 miles) SSW of Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico and about 105 km (65 miles) WSW of Quezaltenango, Guatemala at 1:41 PM MDT, Oct 16, 2008 (2:41 PM CDT in Mexico). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. No reports of damage or casualties have been received at this time.
