The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: An earthquake occurred 25 km (15 miles) WNW of Geneva, Illinois, 25 km (15 miles) WSW of Elgin, Illinois, 80 km (50 miles) W of Chicago, Illinois, 255 km (160 miles) NNE of SPRINGFIELD, Illinois at 3:59 AM MDT, Feb 10, 2010 (3:59 AM MDT in Illinois). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. There have been no reports of damage.

Felt (IV) at Big Rock, Bristol, Cortland, Elburn, Elgin, Geneva, Genoa, Hampshire, Maple Park, Montgomery, Saint Charles, South Elgin, Sycamore, Oak Park, Palos Hills and Sugar Grove. Felt (III) at Davenport and Iowa City, Iowa. Widely felt in much of Illinois, Indiana and central and southern Wisconsin. Also felt in northeastern Arkansas, eastern Iowa, northwestern Kentucky, southern Michigan, southeastern Minnesota, eastern Missouri, western Ohio and northwestern Tennessee.
