Magnitude 6.9 CHINA-RUSSIA-NORTH KOREA BORDER REGION

The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: An earthquake occurred about 110 km (70 miles) NE of Chongjin, North Korea or 110 km (70 miles) SW of Vladivostok, Russia or 1251 km (778 miles) NE of Beijing, China at 7:13 PM MDT, Feb 17, 2010 (Feb 18 at 10:13 AM local time in China). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. There have been no reports of damage.

Recorded (2 JMA) in southeastern Hokkaido and (1 JMA) in northern and southern Hokkaido. Also recorded (2 JMA) in Aomori, Ishikawa, Iwate, Miyagi and Saitama; (1 JMA) in Akita, Chiba, Fukui, Fukushima, Gumma, Ibaraki, Kanagawa and Tokyo, Honshu.
